Super Visa
The Super Visa is a special temporary-resident visa for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents. It allows long-term visiting: a Super Visa can be valid for up to 10 years (multiple entries), and you can stay in Canada up to 5 years at a time (since changes as of June 22, 2023).
Eligibility Requirements for Super Visa:
- The applicant must be a parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- The "host" child/grandchild living in Canada must be at least 18 years old and must provide a letter of invitation promising financial support during the stay.
- The host must meet a minimum income threshold (based on family size) - to show they can support the visiting family member(s).
- The applicant must have valid private medical insurance from a Canadian (or approved foreign) insurer, covering at least 1 year, with minimum coverage of CAD $100,000.
- The applicant must undergo a medical exam, be admissible and be outside Canada when applying.
