Refugee
Refugee
Individuals who fear persecution, face risk to life, or risk of cruel and unusual treatment or punishment in their home country may seek protection in Canada through the refugee system. Canada offers two main refugee pathways:
Refugee Claim Inside Canada
You may make a claim if you are already in Canada and cannot safely return to your home country. The Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) assesses whether you meet the definition of a Convention Refugee or a Person in Need of Protection.
Refugee Sponsorship from Outside Canada
If you are outside Canada, you may be sponsored under one of the following:
- Government-Assisted Refugees (GAR)
- Privately Sponsored Refugees (PSR)
- Blended Visa Office-Referred (BVOR) Program
Contact us for guidance on refugee claims, documentation, or representation before the IRB.
Contact us for professional assistance with any of the above immigration services.
